Just for reaching my recordsparklengt with the 1" again I applied a bigger
Topload and a 3rd OBIT, the result was: 330mm sparks (2 times the
windinglenth)
Here you see a 1 second exposure time image
Another 330mm strike

Here is one of the pictures I took last year with my new camera, it´s nothing
special just 2 OBITs and ~200mm sparks

Picture taken in complete darkness with ISO400

Another nice picture of this day

And again 1/2second exposure time ISO400

I used a 1" secondary that was left from the V1.0 coil to push the sparklenght a little bit. The secondary has a little bit more diametre (~1,1 inch) and a windinglenght of 165mm. This time I reached
250mm with 1 single OBIT! ->Thats 1,5 times the winding lenght. |
Also see the movie. |
Here you see the 1" coil with old secondary at normal operation. |
Here is a 1 second exposure time image of the 1" coil. Notice the 250mm strike. |
Here is a 2 seconds exposure time image of normal operation. |
Here you see the coil running with 2 OBITS and the new stainless steel toroid. The sparklenght reaches 200mm as before. |

With 2 OBITS as powersupply I finally reached 200mm sparks, thats 1,38 times the windinglenght. My goal will bei 1,5 times or even 2 times, but I´m quite confident with this configuration. |
The following pictures are taken from the first testing of this coil with a small OBIT powersupply with 10KV@20mA, so only 200VA. MMC is 2,7nF. |
This picture contains the maximum sparklenght with the OBIT powersupply for this configuration. The screwdriver is 150mm away from the topload. |
In this pictures you see some nice streamers with the same configuration |
After I applied a bigger topload, the sparklenght increased to 170mm to ground and the streamers become longer
